What is an Ultramarinos?

In Spain, an ultramarinos is the heart of the neighbourhood. It is a simple, friendly shop where you grab a quick bite, buy your essentials, and talk to the person behind the counter.

It is familiar, warm, and part of daily life. We created Ultramarinos Pepe to bring that same feeling to Vancouver.

About Ultramarinos Pepe

One Step In and You're Already In Spain

When you walk into Ultramarinos Pepe, you step into a tiny corner of everyday Spain. You can grab a bocadillo made on the spot, order a quick café, discover the staples that make Spanish food so comforting and chat for a moment before continuing your day.

Everything feels simple, warm and familiar, the way neighbourhood shops work back home. You eat, you browse, you pick up your favourites and you leave with that small feeling of having been somewhere cosy and real.

Eat What You Can Buy

Every bocadillo we make uses the exact same ingredients we stock on our shelves.
If you fall in love with it here… you can bring the magic home.

Spain Must Haves, Next Door

Spanish staples you can’t help craving. Cola-Cao, olives, embutidos, dulces and the classics that real Spaniards bring in their suitcases when they are out of the country.

The flavours people fall in love with through trips, friends or shared moments at the table are now waiting
for you right here, next door.

Come Say Hola

Meet Our Stars

Every good ultramarinos has its legends. Ours are Mari and Pepe — a bit bold, a bit loud, always full of flavour. They’re the spirit behind everything we do.

  • MARI

Mari is the heart of the kitchen, always calm, caring and ready with that homemade touch everyone secretly wants.

She keeps things light, nourishing and full of cariño. When a dish tastes like pure comfort and makes you feel looked after, you can be sure Mari had something to do with it.

  • PEPE

Pepe is the soul of the table, loud in the best way and generous with everything he loves.
He lives for jamón, chorizo and a good chat, and he will always offer you a taste that is never just a small taste. When you want bold flavour and proper Spanish attitude,

    Pepe is your guy.

Why The SEVEN?

In many Spanish towns, people didn’t say “I’m going to the shop.” They said “I’m going to the seven,” using the street number as the nickname for their local ultramarinos. That little habit became part of everyday life.

Our seven comes from the building itself, home to a heritage-protected 7UP sign that’s been there for decades. Instead of hiding it, we embraced it and tied it to that Spanish tradition.

The seven became a symbol, a wink, and the perfect anchor for our identity.

Come To The SEVEN, Come Con Pepe

Spain just moved into the neighbourhood.
Come hungry. Leave with crumbs on your shirt.
